Most of you have young children who have been diagnosed, but my son is 29 and has just been diagnosed. It is rare he was told, but anyone who has a change in vision should immediately see a specialist to find out what is wrong. My son had been going to a retina specialist as he has a -8.00 vision which causes a thinning of the retina and has been monitored since he was about 14. He was always told if he ever had any change in his vision he was to immediately see a doctor, which happenend in July. He had the laser surgery to stop the bleeding blood vesels and so far is okay. The scar tissue from the bleeding is peeling away and moving out of his field of vision. He was told he definitely has Coats' Disease. So please pass the word that it can happen at any age.
Hi, I'm from Paraguay, south america . I'm 22 years old and just have been told I have the Coats' Disease. I had the laser about a month ago so It's soon too tell about my situacion. I can't find any information about the disease at this age neider.
Hello , That is so correct ..most i hear about coat's disease is that it happens to young children,YES i agree that it happens to young children but does that mean that the older you get the less chance you have of getting the disease???? I hope that the so called specialists can use some commonsence and submit a more professionanal and thought about conclusion on coat's. "There" i feel better now that i got off my chest.
