Merry Christmas to everyone!

I just wanted to let you know that Dylan (12) had his second laser surgery on his eye this past week. Dr. Clark was very pleased at the continued reduction of fluid in Dylan's eye and we have a re-evaulation in six weeks. He has to remain on prednisone drops for two weeks.

I'm so thankful for this site and continue to reference it when we have our visits with Dr. Clark. Thank you so much for your information and support.

Ellen

EllenW,
That is great news! Is Dr. Clark content to treat with just laser surgery, or have you discussed any of the anti-angiogenic drugs (Lucentis, Avastin, etc). We wish you a very Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and continued success with Dylan's treatments.

Take care,
Dave

Dr. Clark has been in contact with both of the doctors mentioned in earlier emails from the eye institutes in Florida and another portion in upper mid-west. With Dylan's case and his positive reaction to the laser treatment, he wants to hold off on the angionenic drugs at this time.

We go for our follow-up to the December procedure tomorrow. We've noticed in pictures from over Christmas that the mass/reflection in Dylan's eye is now much smaller than before. Over Christmas Dylan came to a sudden stop and said that he thought the "spot" was smaller than before. Tomorrow we'll know for sure.

THANKS SO MUCH for this site!
Ellen

Dylan's last follow-up revealed that almost all leakage was gone from around his retina and no new leakages could be detected. Dr. Clark is hopeful that some of the newer eximate will possibly reabsorb. Dr. Clark attributes Dylan's concept of the dot being smaller to the fact that the fluid has dissapated.

We do not have to go back until May 18. We're so thankful to you for this site. It's helped so much in knowing options and being prepared for doctor's visits.

Everyone,
Dylan had an exam yesterday -- it's been 6 months since his initial diagnosis. All of the fluid in the periphreal areas of his eye has dried up. An angiogram showed that there are few vessels in the center of his eye -- in the eximate-- that have small leakages. We're going back today for Dylan to undergo the macular laser (?). Dr. Clark described this as a stronger laster that will get to these vessels. My only concern is that Dylan must be awake and very still throughout this procedure. Dr. Clark is confident that Dylan will be okay.
I'll let you know the outcome.

Dylan went in on August 10 for his follow-up from the May mascular laser. There was no new leakage and the fluid within the eye and the fluid remaining seemed "reduced" from the previous visit.

About 6 weeks after the August visit, Dylan announced that the shape of his spot had changed -- it had gone from a circle to an oblong shape and was smaller than before.

We return for our next follow-up on November 21.

A family members has suggested that I place Dylan on occular vitamins? Does anyone have experience with these?
Thanks.

Ellen,
That is such good news. We are so happy for you and for Dylan. We have not tried ocular vitamins with Jacob. I certainly don't think they would do any harm, though.

Take care,
Dave

Hi Ellen: How was Dylan's check-up on Nov 21st? We actually meet with our Dr tomorrow to see what Nicholas' next steps may be as it seems the Lucentis injections have plateaued now; so I am just browsing on this site to get some more possible info for tomorrow. His eye isn't completely dried up yet according to recent OCT results and he has had 8 injections so far in the past 12 mths.

Thanks,
Tracey
