Hi everyone. Since I wrote last Caragan has had one surgery and 3 Lucentis injections. Her eye is now shrinking and leaking constantly. The specialist says the eye is dying. I don't know what to do. She can hardly open her eye due to it's shrinking. I am so upset for her...before any of the surgeries her eye looked normal now it looks awful.

Jerry, Did you ask about any of the alternative treatments? Did they do surgery on one or both eyes? Did the specialist give you any idea how the leakage was in his left eye? Thanks, Dave

kymmie. Has your specialist suggested any other form of treatment? How long ago was her last Lucentis injection? Has the specialist talked about holding off on more injections? Would a vitrectomy with silicon oil or saline help stabilize Caragan's eye? Our son had a vitrectomy with silicon oil 3 years ago, and his eye is stable. He has a complete cataract, but no shrinkage that we can detect. Just a few questions for you to ask. Then again, maybe it is best to do nothing for a while. Take care, Dave

Dave, He has just had surgery in the right eye for now. He is getting ready to have his second one. They have to go in and retache his retina in his right eye on wednesday. They said that they can see the coats in his left but that was it. They are just keeping an eye on it for now.

Thanks Dave! I will ask. Her last lucentis injection was in February. We are leaving the eye alone right now. Some days I think let's just take it out and get it over with...but obviously she and I both want her to have her eye. I was depressed for her, trying not to show it after the last visit to the specialist, I took her to the mall and we saw a little boy with no legs, about 5 years old. Kind of put life back into perspective.
