My son lovals is getting his both eyes check up in every two months. When he goes to doctor, he hates to put on the eye drops for dialation. he is very cooperative child and tolerate it anyway.

But my worry is if this dialation drop has any side effect. I don't have any hope for the coats eye. But I am worried if the drops may have any side effect for his good eye.

If anyone have any idea on this. Please post.

Presca,

I too was concerned about this. My son will need to have his remaining good eye checked every month - and each time he will get his eye dilated with drops. I was concerned about the negative long-term side effects of having the eyes dilated so often.

However, my doctors have said that there is absolutely nothing to worry about, and there won't be any side effects of continued dilation.

Also, dilation is very important for getting a really good look inside the eye, and being able to detect any problems as early as possible.

So the benefits of dilation are far far greater than any risk. Don't worry about the dilation - you've good enough other things to worry about.

Best Regards,

Duncan
