Hello,
Recently (past 2 mos), Owen has complained about seeing black and white spots in his field of vision - in his "good" eye. He says there are too may spots to count and they do not move. He has to look through them or past them to see. He has likened them to static on the TV (when the cable goes out), only the spots he sees are much smaller in size. He was examined by 2 Ophthalmologists at Hospital for Sick Kids in January. His Coats' eye is stable (blind) and he still maintains 20/20 vision in his "good" eye. They have ruled out infection, inflamation, change in eye pressure, no signs of retinal detachment (from what they can tell without putting Owen under anesthetic). We also ruled out migraines, finger poke, or hit to the eye. They can determine no cause for Owen to see spots on his "good" eye, and have concluded we should just ignore it, it might go away. Given Owen only has only 1 "good" eye and he is reporting a problem with it, I'm not convinced I should drop the matter so easily. Not sure where I should take him next. Has anyone ever experienced this or heard of it?
thanks, Anne-Marie
